Meet 9th Grade on Track Coordinator, Jordan!

Before VISTA Service:

Jordan is from Menomonee Falls, WI and received her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Sustainability Studies with a minor in International Studies from Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago. At Roosevelt University, Jordan was captain of and member of the women's basketball team, the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the President of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Council, and a member of the Honors Program. She studied abroad in Australia, New Zealand, England, and the Netherlands and conducted original research on the effectiveness of four community organizing practices and the effects that the provision and adequate funding of extra-curricular activities have on student performance levels in the Chicago Public Schools District. Jordan has also worked as an Advanced Research Fellow with a Chicago College of Performing Arts professor, where she helped him conduct research for his book. Jordan has previously worked as a campaign fellow for now-Governor J.B. Pritzker and for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

Choose VISTA and Milwaukee Succeeds:

After earning her BA in three years, Jordan knew that she wanted to take a gap year before pursuing graduate school. Jordan joined the AmeriCorps VISTA program because she saw the immediate need to empower communities by creating sustainable solutions and capacity-building. Jordan accepted the opportunity to become the new 9th-Grade-on-Track Coordinator at Milwaukee Succeeds because she wanted to be a part of an organization that actively values the lived experiences of individuals and emphasizes co-creating solutions in a community that she has spent much time in.

Service Year Goals:

Jordan is looking forward to learning how different sectors can co-create solutions and how to shift power. She hopes to gain a better understanding of how to change systems and lead authentically during her year of service and is excited to learn anything she can from experienced and passionate industry professionals.
