In July, 26 young leaders from across Milwaukee began a journey of advocacy, empowerment and community-building as the inaugural cohort of the Autonomous Youth Council (AYC). Now they are poised to take their next big step: partner placements. Starting in February, AYC members will be embedded within various organizations across Milwaukee to put their training into practice.

Activating our Youth: Inside the Autonomous Youth Council

These passionate individuals formed the inaugural cohort of our Autonomous Youth Council (AYC), a groundbreaking initiative designed by youth, for youth. Fueled by the insights of over 300 youth and community members, the AYC is a paid opportunity that aims to empower young advocates to actively engage in and shape the decisions that affect them.
